Our School offers Dramatic Arts education at the Senior College as a choice subject to matric level. We believe that studying Dramatic Arts is an important means of stimulating creativity in problem-solving. It challenges pupils’ perceptions of their world and of themselves. Ample opportunities abound for budding performers as we produce a major School Musical production each year, alternating between the Preparatory School and the College. Every single pupil in the Preparatory School performs in three major productions before advancing to the College where they may audition to perform in further shows. We feel that by exposing young pupils to this incredible craft opens their eyes and hearts to the dramatic arts.

The College is proud of the list of successful productions:

2006 The Boyfriend
2008 Grease
2010 Guys and Dolls
2012 Little Shop of Horrors
2014 A Chorus Line
2016 Hairspray
2018 Back to the 80s

Dramatic exploration can provide students with an outlet for emotions, thoughts, and dreams that they might not otherwise have means to express, which speaks to our School’s philosophy of educating the “whole child”.

The Senior College also offers opportunities for pupils to write and direct productions under the guidance of a mentor. We provide a platform where pupils can bring their ideas to life. The exploration of the world beyond the classroom contributes considerably to the personal development of our young people.

“The role of a creative leader is not to have all the ideas; it is to create a culture where everyone can have ideas and feel that they are valued. You can be creative in anything – in math, science, engineering, and philosophy – as much as you can in music or in painting or in dance.” – Ken Robinson
